Northern Darebin Combined Kindergarten Association (NDCKA)

For over 40 years, NDCKA has proudly supported local families by providing high quality, community based early childhood education. As the operator of Blake Street, Gellibrand Crescent and Maryborough Avenue Kindergartens, we are committed to provide a warm, safe, happy and stimulating environment for all children and their families. Our goal is to assist each child into making a smooth transition from home to kindergarten and then onto school.

We strive in helping each individual child develop self-esteem, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning. Throughout their kinder journey our children will develop knowledge, skills and attitudes which will lay down the foundations for later formal learning in life.

We respect, value and embrace the diverse values, beliefs, family and cultural backgrounds, traditions, life experiences and knowledge that all children and their families bring to our kindergartens.

Why Choose NDCKA Kindergartens?

Choosing the right kindergarten is an important decision for every family. At NDCKA, we provide a community focused, not-for-profit approach to early childhood education, where children and families are at the centre of everything we do.

Our qualified and experienced educators deliver play-based learning programs that encourage curiosity, confidence and a strong foundation for school readiness. We create inclusive environments where every child feels valued, supported and a sense of belonging.

With long-standing connections to our local community, NDCKA kindergartens offer a welcoming, family focused experience with smaller community environments than larger early learning centres. We partner with families to support each child’s individual development and help every child thrive.

Why Choose Sessional Kindergarten?

Sessional kindergarten provides children with a high quality, focused learning experience guided by experienced and qualified educators. Every session is led by a degree-qualified teacher, supported by a dedicated team who nurture each child’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Our intentional, play-based programs are carefully planned to support children’s social, emotional, physical and creative development while building important skills for school readiness. Children develop confidence through familiar routines, learning experiences and opportunities to prepare for a successful transition to Prep.

Families are an important part of our kindergarten community, with opportunities to connect through events, committees and shared experiences that create a strong sense of belonging.

We respect each child’s voice, encourage participation and ensure their best interests guide our decisions.

• Creating inclusive and culturally safe environments
We celebrate diversity and support the cultural safety, identity and inclusion of all children and families in our community.

• Preventing and responding to child harm
We have zero tolerance for child abuse and actively manage risks to protect children’s safety and wellbeing.

We believe child safety is a shared responsibility and value open communication, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Together, we create environments where every child feels safe, respected and able to thrive.

NDCKA operates in accordance with a range of legislative, policy and procedural requirements that place the safety and wellbeing of children at the centre of everything we do. These documents are available on the NDCKA website and can also be accessed at each of our three kindergartens.
